CaminoSlide is an applescript that is intended to mimic the sliding window functionality of DeskBrowse, where the browser window becomes a sliding window docked to the left edge of the screen. It is intended to be activated via Butler or Quicksilver.
Using the script with Butler
- Go to Butler’s configuration Window (Butler > Customize…)
- Create an AppleScript Smart Item in location of your choice – it can be an invisible item, or an item you can put directly in the docklet or menu bar, or an item you can put in a container in the docklet or menu bar… (Go to the “Add”(+) menu at the bottom of the configuration window > Smart Item > AppleScript > AppleScript)
- Copy/Cut and Paste 31d1’s source code linked above into the “Source Code” tab on the right side of the configuration window
- Switch to the “Triggers” tab and assign a hot key of your choice (I used Cmd-Ctrl-C) – alternately, if you decided to put it as an item in the menu bar or docklet, you can invoke it by just selecting it there.
- Give it Camino’s default icon if you wish – you can get a small enough .png of the icon from Camino’s listing on osx.iusethis.com
That should be it – if Camino isn’t running, the AppleScript will launch it and slide the window into the left edge of the screen once it’s finished loading (it’ll just slide the window out of the way if Camino is already running). According to the scripts notes, it works best if only one window is open in Camino.
Using the script in Quicksilver
- Using Script Editor.app (or similar) save the script as a script somewhere that QS catalogs.
- Type the name of the script
- Choose “Run” as the action if it’s not already the default action.
- Alternatively set this up as a trigger
